Today's plan

We just got a call from Keith, and he is taking us up to his reserve on the north side of the Island. Last year he took us there and we nearly got killed. We have to climb over slippery rocks to cross the river three times before we get to his private pond.
There we will picnic and swim while Keith works on killing the forest of guava trees... they are a weed out there in the mountains and the mortal enemy of Keith. Keith still has my Tabi shoes in the back of his truck, so at least I'll have a little bit of a grip on the soles of my feet. Last year it was pouring rain when we did this and it was really dangerous. So far today it is clear, so this might even be fun! Todd will once again get to ride in the back of the old truck as Keith and I chat in the front about the old college days, etc.
We'll see how it goes...Pray for us that we can make it across the rocks!

Another bride and groom, another sunset

Todd risked his life diving into the raging sea to get a little
different perspective on the sunset tonight. Barbara stayed on shore
and took her shots. We liked both versions. There is going to be
another wedding here tomorrow. If we are around, we might take some
more wedding pictures. We met the little girl (4 years old) who is
going to be the flower girl and she is such a doll, I hope we can get
some cute shots of her. And, by the way, we found some spoons so now
we can eat the rest of our food that we have stashed here in the room.
We ate a papaya for breakfast this morning along with a container of
yogurt.

Puka dogs at Kiahana mall

We had the delicious, famous- as seen on the travel channel- Puka dogs
for lunch today. Polish dogs stuffed into Hawaiian bun with a hole
down the center (puka means hole). You can pick the flavor of salsa and
mustard that goes inside. Todd had mango salsa and I had papaya. And
we both had the lilikoi mustard. They cost $6.25 each. Not our usual
Costco $1.50 dog with free drink! The sparrows were sitting at the
table with us, waiting for their share.

Day 2- Kauai Poipu Beach sea turtle

Can you spot the sea turtle? We walked down to Poipu Beach looking for
a Monk Seal, but this morning we spotted this big sea turtle just a few
feet from the beach. The battery on the little camera finally died, so
we walked back to the Sheraton.

The first pool is our pool. We can't swim in it because it is unfit for
swimming. The second pool is for the rich people across the street.
The ones who have the beach front property.

Our New Strategy

Oh boy! Claudia was so shocked that we were still getting up before
sunrise, that we re-thought our plan and from now on we will be
photographing each SUNSET as we walk the beach! Awww. Much better! We
slept in until at least 8:00 this morning in our nice soft bed. I like
this new strategy! (also, we are on the west side of the island now, so
we actually get to SEE the sunset now!).
Now if I can just find those spoons.

Happy Hour at the Sheraton

Barbara learned the hula 2 days ago and now she has joined the Hula
Dance Troop and will be touring the Mainland for the next 6 months.
